Devotees of Roxanne Klein's brand of raw cuisine - made famous at her eponymous and now-defunct Larkspur restaurant - can find it once again, this time in supermarkets.
Klein's sophisticated nut-based foods resembled cooked dishes like pasta or tamales, but were made without heating anything warmer than just over body temperature to keep them raw.
Among the Roxanne's Fine Cuisine products rolling out this week are a parsnip-based "vegetabouli salad," two nut-based spreads called hummus and "nutmilk cheeze," a granola parfait built on a coconut-cashew "pudding," apple crisp and glazed nuts. Still in development are sandwiches and sprouted bread, according to Neil Blomquist, president and CEO of Novato-based Roxanne's.
The foods will be sold in special kiosks bearing photos of a smiling Roxanne and her cookbook.
Roxanne's Fine Cuisine is $6 to $8 at Andronico's, Whole Foods Markets and independent markets.
